The next time you find yourself relaxing in your fabric hammock, you can think about this quote by Lin Yutang.
“Besides the noble art of getting things done, there is a nobler art of leaving things undone. The wisdom of life consists in the elimination of nonessentials.”
So, rest easy and know you are becoming happier and wiser with the time spent in your own getaway.
Next time you are relaxing in your rope hammock, think of something to help you relax and become wiser at the same time. So get horizontal and keep this in mind.
James Carroll was quoted as saying, “We spend most of our time and energy in a kind of horizontal thinking. We move along the surface of things (but) there are times when we stop. We sit still. We lose ourselves in a pile of leaves or its memory. We listen and breezes from a whole other world begin to whisper.”
With all the issues in the news today, it is easy to let things get to you and raise your stress level. Remember, relaxation is part of a well balanced healthy lifestyle.
Next time you are relaxing in your rope hammock, think of these words of Horace Bushnell: “The more difficulties one has to encounter, within and without, the more significant and the higher in inspiration his life will be.”
Hanging your rope hammock
inside or outside on a porch: Hang hammock from wall studs or ceiling beams. Find the center of stud or beam with a stud finder and with a power drill, drill small holes where the hooks will screw in. Screw in the hooks. Then hang your hammock and use a rope to adjust the proper distance if needed.
Hanging your hammock outside in your yard: Use a stud on a side of your house or garage. You can use an existing strong fence post, and place your own post across from it. Of course you may also use available trees, or one tree and one post. If there aren’t trees or usable walls, place two posts the correct distance apart to hang your hammock between them. Post must be at least 8 ft long and holes dug 2-3 ft deep so posts stand above grounds 5-6 ft. Use concrete, available ready to mix in bags, to secure.
Hanging your hammock from trees: Use hooks if trees can take them without damages; But I recomend tying rope around trunk or strong branch.
A good friend on mine once said, “The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is right now!” If you are wanting a hammock to hang between two trees and don’t have the right trees or spacing, you can appreciate this phrase.
Well, you can plant your trees and still have your hammock. For now, opt for a hammock stand. Place it between the trees you planted and before long you will have some shade. And in about 10 years, you might be able to hang your hammock from them. And, if you are fortunate enough to have ordered a hammock with a 10 year warranty from our recommended site, you are all set!!
When you are relaxing in your fabric hammock, why not think about a famous quote from a historical figure.
Herodotus, wo lived from 484-430 BC said, “If a man insisted always on being serious, and never allowed himself a bit of fun and relaxation, he would go mad or become unstable without knowing it.”

Have you ever noticed that some people work so hard to try and get ahead that they rarely take time to relax. Now, I don’t mean that hard work should be avoided for relaxation, but relaxation is part of a healthy lifestyle especially for people who burn the candle at both ends.
When you are lying in your fabric hammock, can relax guilt free with the following quote running through your mind. Dr. Joyce Brothers had this to say, “No matter how much pressure you feel at work, if you could find ways to relax for at least five minutes every hour, you’d be more productive. You may not be able to relax five minutes every hour, but relaxation at breaks and at the end of the day will reduce your stress, improve your health, and make you more productive.
Many of todays hammocks are a product of modern technology, but the original hammock concept has been around for countless centuries. In fact, during his first voyage, Christopher Columbus recorded that American Indians were sleeping in what were called “hamacas” or nets made of cotton. Columbus was the first to bring the knowledge of hammocks to Europe and South America. Since then, hammocks have become popular throughout the world.
Today’s hammocks come is almost every color, style and variety imaginable. There are even camping hammocks, hammock chairs and hammock accessories. Many people choose to place their hammocks on their front porches or in their yards.
