How to clean your hammock.

hammockandtubWashing your rope or fabric hammock can be somewhat of a challenge depending on whether it has spreader bars or not. Some people prefer to hand wash their hammock, which is a good option. If you do, use a container such as a tote or bath tub. Fully immerse the hammock, again using mild soap or hammock cleaner with no bleach. Use your hands to agitate the hammock for several minutes until clean. Once the hammock is clean, use clean water to rinse it until all the soap or cleaner is gone. Carefully untie the hammock, and again, hang it up to dry.
Drying and storing your hammock is also important in extending the life and condition of the hammock. Once the hammock is dry, you can either store it in a bag, or if you do not have, nor cannot find a storage bag, using the metal rings of the hammock, hang the hammock in your garage, basement, or somewhere where it can stay dry. After setting up your hammock for the next season, if you see any mildew, use a hammock cleaner to remove it.

Its no wonder hammocks are associated with a gentler pace of life. A hammock is a most comfortable place to relax and enjoy the sunshine, take a nap, or get stuck into a good book. Many people actually use their hammock as a bed!

Hammocks can be hung from posts, beams, tree branches, or a purpose built hammock stand. A hammock stand gives you the freedom to set up your hammock wherever your mood takes you. Be it under a shady tree, on a sunny patio or within easy reach of the pool or beach.

allbrandsHammock chairs and swings, are a nice addition to your garden or patio. The only problem is, once you’ve hung one, you’ll probably need to hang more so your friends can all hangout and enjoy the comfort of a quality hammock chair. Hammock chairs, like hammocks, can be suspended on ropes. However, hammock chairs are designed to provide a seat, not a place to lay down. The hammock chairs are positioned in such a way that they provide back support for a sitting person.

Like traditional hammocks, hammock chairs come in a variety of shapes and styles. You may choose the reclining hammock chair, which, with it’s built in footrest, offers maximum comfort. This type of hammock is one of the best hammocks out there today.

Go Green! and help some people too!

mayan2Arguably, one of the best ways to go green is to purchase natural fibers. Many hammocks are made of natural fibers and one of the most popular is the Mayan Hammock. They are made of cotton and will conform to your body and give you exceptional comfort.

Buying a Mayan Hammock also benefits the craftsman who make them. Many of these craftsman are families who live on the Yucatan Penninsula in Mexico. By purchasing a Mayan Hammock, you will be directly affecting the economy in this area. The artisans select the colors of the hammocks so there are infinite, colorful variations. Each one is literally “one of a kind.”

So why not go green, help some people, and have a one of a kind and useful piece of art in your home or yard.

The hammock has a wide and varied history, and from that long history, they have survived into the modern era. These comfy beds are popular all over the globe, and they are the preferred method of sleeping by beach bums and vacationers alike. After all, there’s nothing quite as relaxing as swinging gently on a hammock or taking a mid-afternoon nap in the sun, suspended between two trees. Whether you’re looking for a beach accessory or something to spruce up your backyard, there are numerous versions and styles available.

These styles vary in materials used and construction. The most common versions include the jungle hammock (or Venezuelan hammock), the spreader-bar hammock, Brazilian hammock, and more. Depending on the make, these are generally constructed from nylon, polyester, or cotton. The main bed of the hammock is either woven strings or a solid fabric. Fabric offers more stability, while a string version is more condensable and transportable.

indoorhammocksrelax-hammockgetawayWhen choosing the furniture for use in the various rooms throughout your home, there are several contemporary options to consider.  Gone are the days when furniture was limited to recliners, couches, and tables in various sizes.  Contemporary furniture includes indoor hammocks, overstuffed bean bags, and glass and metal artwork.  The standard articles of furniture still have their places, but these days, people want furniture that looks a bit more unique in their home.  Contemporary furniture often mixes comfort and style, and while some objects don’t look all that comfortable, they’re designed to be much more relaxing than their traditional counterparts.

For example, you’ll be amazed at the relaxation indoor hammocks provide when comparing them to traditional recliners and couches.  These hammocks cradle and contour to the shape of the body, making them ideal for relaxation for couples or individuals.  Be sure to check out contemporary options when decorating your home!

Some thoughts on hammock stands

imagerequestThe fact is,  that you very seldom have two perfectly placed trees to hang your hammock. This means that a stand is a must.   The major benefit you get from hammock stands is that they can be placed just about anywhere. When you don’t have to attach your hammock to a wall or tree, you can either move under the sun or shade with more ease.

Stands are supports made of wood or metal that can be used to hang hammocks from either end. However, you need to make sure that you buy the right stand as not all stands and hammocks are made for each other. The hammock stand should have a weight capacity at least as much as the hammock. Also the length of your hammock is important when choosing a stand. Make sure the stand is large enough for your hammock. Check the specs. It is recommended that the stand be at least 2 feet longer than the hammock.
