The hammock has a wide and varied history, and from that long history, they have survived into the modern era. These comfy beds are popular all over the globe, and they are the preferred method of sleeping by beach bums and vacationers alike. After all, there’s nothing quite as relaxing as swinging gently on a hammock or taking a mid-afternoon nap in the sun, suspended between two trees. Whether you’re looking for a beach accessory or something to spruce up your backyard, there are numerous versions and styles available.

These styles vary in materials used and construction. The most common versions include the jungle hammock (or Venezuelan hammock), the spreader-bar hammock, Brazilian hammock, and more. Depending on the make, these are generally constructed from nylon, polyester, or cotton. The main bed of the hammock is either woven strings or a solid fabric. Fabric offers more stability, while a string version is more condensable and transportable.
