Whether it’s used frequently or infrequently, there is generally very little upkeep that’s maintained with outdoor hammocks. But with some simple steps, you can actually greatly prolong the expected lifespan of your outdoor hammock. These tips apply to rope or fabric hammocks.
All that you have to do is frequently wash the hammock itself. Read the washing instructions on each hammock, and make sure you can throw the item into the washing machine. If not, simply hand wash the hammock like you would with any dry clean only item of clothing. Hang it as normal to dry. Make sure it gets completely dry, as mold is one of the problems that can occur with outdoor hammocks, which is precisely why frequent washing is a good idea. If you have products like hammock chairs or hammock swings, also make sure the wooden or metal apparatus is cleaned as well. Usually wiping it down with warm soapy water will be enough to remove any dirt, scum, or pollen.
