Many of todays hammocks are a product of modern technology, but the original hammock concept has been around for countless centuries. In fact, during his first voyage, Christopher Columbus recorded that American Indians were sleeping in what were called “hamacas” or nets made of cotton. Columbus was the first to bring the knowledge of hammocks to Europe and South America. Since then, hammocks have become popular throughout the world.
Today’s hammocks come is almost every color, style and variety imaginable. There are even camping hammocks, hammock chairs and hammock accessories. Many people choose to place their hammocks on their front porches or in their yards. Some have hammocks indoors and still others choose to take their hammocks with them and own hammocks and stands with great mobility and light weight.
