Washing your rope or fabric hammock can be somewhat of a challenge depending on whether it has spreader bars or not. Some people prefer to hand wash their hammock, which is a good option. If you do, use a container such as a tote or bath tub. Fully immerse the hammock, again using mild soap or hammock cleaner with no bleach. Use your hands to agitate the hammock for several minutes until clean. Once the hammock is clean, use clean water to rinse it until all the soap or cleaner is gone. Carefully untie the hammock, and again, hang it up to dry.
Drying and storing your hammock is also important in extending the life and condition of the hammock. Once the hammock is dry, you can either store it in a bag, or if you do not have, nor cannot find a storage bag, using the metal rings of the hammock, hang the hammock in your garage, basement, or somewhere where it can stay dry. After setting up your hammock for the next season, if you see any mildew, use a hammock cleaner to remove it.

Im curious, if I have to store my hammock in the garage during the winter, is there a good solution to keeping mice away?

Keeping mice away from your garage would be a good solution as all the contents would then be protected from damage. This is the approach I would recommend.

• A small bottle of Tobasco (hot sauce) or equiv.
• Small spray bottle
• Water
1.I decided to try an experiment and was amazed when I found out it worked. The first step is to set some traps to catch the mice that are already in your garage.
2.Next, you’ll need a control mechanism or else how would you know if it worked and your mice problem is gone. So get your broom and dustpan out and clean up all the mice droppings you find in your garage.
3.Next, get a small spray bottle, like the ones with house hold cleaners and wash it out completely, fill it with some water, then spray it a few times in the sink to clear out the sprayer mechanism as well. Our bottle held about 12 ounces of liquid but you can use any size you have available.
4.Next fill your bottle with about 2 or 3 tablespoons of Tobasco or some other hot sauce you might have handy. Don’t use any sauce with clumps of peppers in them as they’ll clog your sprayer on your bottle. Then filled rest of the bottle with water. Actually, I wanted to make sure it work so I did about 4 tablespoons in my bottle. You can add more but just don’t add so much that water turns too red.
5.Now take the bottle and spray the floor at the entry way to your garage. Don’t be afraid to spray away as you won’t be able to smell or see any residue. Next I went crazy and sprayed some of my boxes, rubber hoses, anything that I thought the mice could end up chewing.
6.Finally, do some spot checking from time to time and see if you have a returning mice problem.
